About the National HE STEM Programme
The National HE STEM Programme is funded by the Higher Education Funding Councils for England and Wales and seeks to support Higher Education Institutions in encouraging the exploration of new approaches to recruiting students and delivering programmes of study. It enables the transfer of good practice across the HE STEM sector, facilitates its wider adoption, and encourages innovation. Through collaboration and shared working, the Programme focuses upon sustainable activities to achieve long-term impact within the HE sector. Find out more about the Programme and its activities via the HE STEM website.
The Mathematical Sciences Strand of the National HE STEM Programme is operated by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications on behalf of a group of societies and others in the mathematical sciences which also includes the Royal Statistical Society, the London Mathematical Society and the Heads of Departments of Mathematical Sciences (HoDoMS). The IMA is assisted on HE curriculum innovation by the MSOR Network. The HE curriculum innovation activities explore current learning, teaching and assessment practices within mathematical sciences departments, and disseminate good practice. This component fits into a wider programme of activity in mathematical sciences, where the IMA is working on integration and diversity, employer engagement and, with sigma, on mathematical sciences support. Find out more about the Mathematical Sciences Strand from the IMA website.
HE Curriculum Innovation
Within the Mathematical Sciences Strand, the MSOR Network is responsible for HE Curriculum Innovation - exploring current learning, teaching and assessment practices within mathematical sciences departments, and disseminating good practice. This activity is coordinated by Peter Rowlett, HE Curriculum Innovation Advisor, who can be reached through p.rowlett@bham.ac.uk.
